It was 2030. All the world's telescopes and satellites were searching for inhabited worlds. Their efforts were justified. The object found turned out to be an artificially created structure. It was decided to send an expedition. It was necessary to find volunteers. One of them was Dmitry, who decided to leave his job as an electrician for the sake of a risky but interesting trip. Arriving at the training camp, he quickly got used to it, along the way he recorded data on a quartz disk for the sake of reliability for the expedition report. After completing the training, the participants were presented with new spacesuits. It was a sealed passive exoskeleton with a carbon helmet, a visor filter from radiation, an oxygen generation system, a radio, a headlamp, and mountaineering equipment. Having tried them on, the astronauts boarded the shuttle and began the launch. The launch was successful, now it remains to get to the destination. The flight lasted half a year, a beautiful view opened up from the portholes. Finally, the flight came to an end. A wonderful picture opened up to the astronauts. It was a giant steel sphere similar to Dyson built around a plasma ball from which it was powered. On its surface were a communication system, a docking gateway, a radar, and telescopes. Having docked to the gateway, the researchers penetrated deep into the sphere. They discovered an old abandoned city built of durable polymer. The astronauts were surprised. In the center of the city, they found a technical building from which one could get to the center of the sphere by stairs. Having passed there, the astronauts noticed support trusses in the form of a bubble beam. The main reactor and the control room were also located here. Having studied the remote control, Dima turned on the power supply to the complex. The light came on and now it was possible to walk without the lights on. In this way, the scientists could study the planet in more detail. Having returned to the city, the researchers went to the monorail station leading to the city. Having boarded the train, they passed gardens with waterfalls, swimming pools, greenhouses. Arriving in the city, Dmitry saw a palace with high walls, fountains, galleries. Entering inside, he was surprised even more, the walls were decorated with frescoes, statues stood in separate niches, lamps in the form of a fractal grid. The building housed a library, a conference hall, a cinema, utility rooms, and rest rooms. The walls were covered with polygonal tiles made of luminescent material. The floor was covered with a poured coating. Here you could live happily, the only problem was food. Fortunately, in the backyard there was a hydroponics department, where edible vegetables and fruits grew. But if everything was so wonderful, then why is the city uninhabited? Having dug into the archives, the astronauts learned that the inhabitants were killed by an unknown virus. The bodies could not be found, since they were all collected by robots and taken to the bioreactor. It was left to guess what kind of illness it was. It was time to go back, but when they returned to the shuttle they found that it was damaged by a meteorite. They had to look for another option. And they found an alien ship docked to one of the gateways, large enough for everyone. Having figured out the controls, the scientists set off on their return journey.
