Jaume Cabré is one of the most internationally celebrated contemporary Catalan writers. He is the author of a number of bestselling novels, with over a million copies sold throughout Europe, and has been awarded most of the Catalan literary awards, including the Premi d’Honor de les Lletres Catalanes. Confessions has been called a masterpiece of world literature by international reviewers, and awarded the Premio de la Crítica, Premi de la Crítica Serra d’Or, Premi de Narrativa Maria Àngels Anglada, Premi Joan Crexells de l’Ateneu Barcelonès, Premio La Tormenta en un Vaso (all 2012). Confessions has also been shortlisted for both the Prix Femina and the Prix Medicis in France (2013).
