Grand Master — The highest-ranking Knight of Solamnia.
High Council — The Grand Master and the three High Knights form the High Council, which conducts the Solamnic Orders’ affairs.
High Clerist — The head of the Order of the Sword.
High Justice — The head of the Order of the Rose.
High Warrior — The head of the Order of the Crown.
Grand Master Sir Liam Ehrling — The head of the Knights of Solamnia.
Sir Barron uth Morrec — Former Lord Commander of the Solamnic Circle in Missing City. Killed in an ambush on the night of the Great Storm. See City of the Lost, Chapters 7-8.
Sir Jamis uth Remmik — A high-ranking Knight of the Crown, killed by the Tarmaks. See Flight of the Fallen, Chapters 23-24.
Lady Linsha Majere — Daughter of Palin and Usha Majere. A Knight of the Rose whose last assignment was to serve as the Third Commander in the Circle of Knights at the Solamnic outpost in Missing City.
Sir Fellion — A Knight of the Sword. Friend of Sir Hugh Bronan.
Sir Hugh Bronan — A Knight of the Sword. Close friend of Linsha Majere.
Sir Johand — A Knight of the Sword.
Sir Korbell — A Knight of the Sword.
Sir Pieter — A Knight of the Sword. Sir Pieter was the youngest knight serving in the Circle in Missing City.
Falaius Taneek — Commander of the Legion of Steel in Missing City.
Lanther Darthassian — Son of Bendic Darthassian and member of the Legion of Steel in Missing City.
Mae — An undercover operative in the Missing City.
Tomarick — A member of the Legion of Steel in Missing City.
Afec — A Damjatt apothecary and one of the chief slaves of the Akeelawasee.
Akeelawasee — “The Place of the Chosen Ones.” A part of the imperial palace set aside for the women of the imperial family.
Akkad (pl. Akkadik) — Tarmak term for general. Literally translates as “chief” or “topmost.” The Akkad answers solely to the Emperor.
Akkad-Dar — The Tarmak title given to Lanther Darthassian
Akkad-Ur — The official title of Urudwek.
Amarrel — The Warrior Cleric, a prophesied holy leader among the Brutes. It is commonly believed that Lord Ariakan managed to convince the Tarmak Emperor Kankaweah that he was the Amarrel, thus solidifying his leadership over the Brutes.
Awlgu’arud Drathkin — Literally “the egg-drink of the dragon.” A potion made from the embryo and amniotic fluid of dragon egg. It is believed to substantially increase vitality and aid one’s ability to wield magic.
Berkrath — A Tarmak goddess.
Brutes — A colloquial term used by the people of Ansalon to describe the Tarmak.
Damjatt — An indigenous culture on the island of the Brutes that was subjugated by the Tarmaks. They have largely assimilated into Tarmak culture. They are renowned on their island for the breeding and training of extremely large warhorses.
dekegul (pl. dekegullik) — Officer in charge of one dekul. The dekegullik answer to the Akkad.
dekul (pl. dekullik) — A unit of the Tarmak army consisting of 1,000 warriors.
dodgagd — A bitter tasting berry of Ithin’carthia. From it, the Tarmak make a juice, which they believe promotes good blood-flow.
Dog warriors — When a Tarmak soldier is punished, he is relegated to being a “dog soldier,” the lowest ranking worker delegated to the most menial and degrading tasks.
Drathkin’kela — A title meaning “Chosen of the Dragon” or “dragon friend.”
Drathkin’kelkhan — A title meaning “child of the chosen of the dragon.”
ekwegul (pl. ekwegullik) — Officer in charge of one ekwul. The ekwegullik answer to a dekul.
ekwul (pl. ekwullik) — A unit of the Tarmak army consisting of one hundred warriors.
Imshallik — A Keena high priest.
Ithin’carthia — A large island and homeland of the Tarmak, Damjatt, and Keena peoples.
Kadulawa’ah — The Tarmak name of Takhisis, Queen of Darkness and Mother of Dragons.
Keena — An indigenous culture of Ithin’carthia that was subjugated by the Tarmaks. They have largely assimilated into Tarmak culture. They are the most philosophically and religiously inclined culture of their homeland, and many Keena find roles as priests, scribes, and scholars.
ketkegul (pl. ketkegullik) — Officer in charge of one ketkul. The ketkegullik answer to a ekwul.
ketkul (pl. ketkullik) — A unit of the Tarmak army consisting of ten warriors. Ten ketkullik comprise one ekwul.
ket-rhild — Tarmak term for a formal challenge, a battle to the death.
Khanwhelak — The current Emperor of the Tarmak.
Loruth — One of the women of the Akeelawasee.
Malawaitha — A minor daughter of Emperor Khanwhelak. Her mother was a slave.
marthtok — In the Tarmak tongue, it means literally “ill-shaped,” but the term is most often used to describe deformity, especially in infants.
Mathurra — A Tarmak soldier.
Orchemenarc — A fortified tower and lighthouse that stands on a promontory outside the harbor at Sarczatha.
orgwegul (pl. orgwegullik) — Officer in charge of guards and sentries.
quartal — Among Tarmak aristocracy, the family or clan symbol. Usually a bird of some sort.
Ruthig — A guard in the third ketkul currently assigned to guard the Akeelawasee.
Sarczatha — Capital city of the Tarmaks and seat of the Emperor.
Shurnasir — Keena priest among the Tarmak forces in Missing City.
Tarmak — The dominant culture on Ithin’carthia. They subjugated the Damjatt people of the island many years ago and finished their conquest of the Keena people just a few years prior to the Summer of Chaos.
tazeer — A powerful drink made from leaves, bark, and other ingredients. Supposedly, it increases mental vitality and fertility.
Tzithcana — First wife of Emperor Khanwhelak and current Empress of the Tarmak.
Urudwek — Akkad of the Tarmak forces sent to subdue the Plains of Dust. Official title: Akkad-Ur. Killed by Sir Remmik. See Flight of the Fallen, Chapter 23.
Abyssal Lance — A weapon of great evil created during the Chaos War. The lance has an ensorcelled barb that works its way deeper into the victim until it kills.
Amania — A young girl living among the refugees of Missing City.
Ansalon — The southernmost continent of Krynn.
Ariakan — Son of Ariakas and the goddess Zeboim. Founder of the Knights of Takhisis. Prior to the Summer of Chaos, he established the Dark Knights’ alliance with the Tarmaks and brought many of them to Ansalon to serve in his armies.
Azurale — Centaur member of the Missing City militia.
Bendic Darthassian — Father of Lanther Darthassian.
Beryllinthranox — Green dragon overlord. Commonly known as “Beryl.”
Blood Sea of Istar — The large sea to the northeast of Ansalon.
Callista — A beautiful courtesan.
Caphiathas — Centaur officer of the Missing City militia and the uncle of Leonidas.
Carrebdos — Centaur. Chief of the Windwalker Clan.
Chaos War — The war fought during the Summer of Chaos. See Dragons of Summer Flame, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Chayne — A silver dragon.
Cobalt — The blue dragon companion of Sara Dunstan.
Courrain Ocean — The great ocean east of Ansalon.
Crucible — Bronze dragon and erstwhile guardian of the city of Sanction.
Cyan Bloodbane — A green dragon most noted for aiding in turning the realm of the Silvanesti into a cursed forest of nightmare. He was later enslaved by Raistlin Majere, but when Raistlin entered the Abyss, Cyan returned to Silvanesti to exact his revenge upon the elves.
Danian — A blind healer dwelling among the Plainsmen.
Desolation, the — An area of east-central Ansalon devastated by the great dragon overlord Malystryx.
Dockett — General of the militia of Missing City and unofficial commander of the refugee forces after the fall of the city.
draconian — “Dragonmen” created from the corrupted eggs of good dragons during the Age of Despair.
Duntollik — A region of the northwestern Plains of Dust.
Elian — A large island off the eastern coast of Ansalon.
Ereshu — A centaur clan of the Plains of Dust.
Flashfire — A dormant volcano in the Plains of Dust.
Gal Tra’Kalas — A city founded by the Silvanesti on the eastern coast of the Plains of Dust. It was destroyed during the Cataclysm.
Gilthanas — A prince of the Qualinesti.
Goldmoon — One of the famed Heroes of the Lance. Widow of Riverwind. Now head of the Citadel of Light on Schallsea Island.
Grandfather Tree — A gigantic vallenwood tree growing in the Plains of Dust. It is revered by the local inhabitants. Some even believe it is a manifestation of the god Zivilyn.
Hogan Bight — Lord Governor of the city of Sanction.
Horemheb — Centaur of the Willik clan of Duntollik.
Ian Durne — Commander of Sanction’s city guard, who later turned out to be an assassin of the Dark Knights. See The Clandestine Circle, by Mary H. Herbert.
Iyesta — Brass dragon overlord of the eastern Plains of Dust. Commonly known as “Splendor.”
Karthay — A large island to the northeast of Ansalon. It is due north of the Minotaur Empire.
kefre — A hot drink found in Khur that is gaining popularity throughout Ansalon.
Kern — A region of northeastern Ansalon that borders the realm of the dragon overlord Malystryx and the Blood Sea of Istar.
Khalkist Mountains — A range of mountains that run along eastern Ansalon.
Kharolis Mountains — A range of mountains south of Qualinesti and west of the Plains of Dust.
Khellendros — A blue dragon overlord. Sometimes known as “Skie.”
King’s Road — One of the only major roads through the northern Plains of Dust. It once served to link Silvanost with Tarsis, but it has fallen into disrepair.
kirath — The elite warrior scouts of the Silvanesti.
Kiri-Jolith — The god beloved by the Knights of Solamnia
Knights of Neraka — The so-called “Dark Knights,” originally formed to serve the dark goddess Takhisis.
Kordath — A nomadic tribe of the southern Plains of Dust.
Kothas — The southernmost of the two islands of northeast Ansalon that, along with Mithas, forms the Minotaur Empire.
Krynn — The world.
Leonidas — Centaur member of the Missing City militia and close friend of Linsha Majere.
Lunitari — Goddess of Neutral magic, incarnate as the red moon.
Malys — see Malystryx.
Malystryx — A red dragon overlord with a vast realm in eastern Ansalon. Malystryx is the most powerful dragon in Ansalon.
Mariana Calanbriar — Half-elf captain of the Missing City militia.
Mem-Ban — A town in the northern Plains of Dust.
Mem-Thon — A coastal town to the northeast of the Missing City.
Menneferen — A centaur.
Methanfire — The blue dragon of Bendic Darthassian.
Mina — A young Dark Knight who has led the armies of Neraka in several successful battles in Ansalon. See Dragons of a Fallen Sun, Dragons of a Lost Star, and Dragons of a Vanished Moon by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Missing City — A city on the eastern coast of the Plains of Dust. This city was rebuilt by the Legion of Steel and served as the center of Iyesta’s realm. It was captured by the Tarmak shortly after the great storm in the summer of 38 SC.
Mithas — The northernmost of the two islands of northeast Ansalon that, along with Kothas, forms the Minotaur Empire.
New Sea — The great inland sea of central Ansalon, so named because it was formed during the Cataclysm.
Nordmaar — One of the northernmost realms of Ansalon.
Nuitari — God of Evil magic, incarnate as the black moon.
Onysablet — Black dragon overlord. Commonly known as “Sable.”
Orchard House — A public house in Missing City.
Phalinost — A city on the southeastern border of the Silvanesti Forest.
Plains of Dust — A vast arid region of southern Ansalon.
Qualinesti — The forest realm of the elves in southwestern Ansalon.
Red Rose — A river in the Plains of Dust.
Riverwind — One of the famed Heroes of the Lance and husband of Goldmoon. He died fighting the dragon overlord Malystryx. See Spirit of the Wind, by Chris Pierson.
Rough, the — The rocky, scrubby grasslands on the outskirts of the Missing City.
Sable — see Onysablet.
Saifhum — A large island that lies between Karthay and Kern in the Blood Sea of Istar.
Sancrist — A large island west of mainland Ansalon. It serves as the home for the Knights of Solamnia.
Sara Dunstan — Founder of the Legion of Steel.
Scorpion Wadi — A large canyon northwest of the Missing City.
Silvanesti — The forest realm of the elves in southeastern Ansalon.
Silvanost — The capital city of Silvanesti.
Silvara — A female silver dragon who fell in love with Gilthanas.
Sinking Wells — A favorite campsite of the Legion of Steel in the Plains of Dust.
Sirenfal — A brass dragon.
Solinari — God of Good magic, incarnate as the white moon.
Sunrise — A gold dragon and companion of Ulin Majere.

Stenndunuus — Blue dragon overlord of the central Plains of Dust. Commonly known as “Thunder.”
Takhisis — Evil goddess, also known as the Queen of Darkness.
talon — A unit of the Knights of Neraka consisting of nine knights and a commanding officer.
Tanefer — Centaur member of the Missing City militia who goes with Linsha and Lanther to find the dragon eggs in City of the Lost by Mary H. Herbert.

Tarsis — A city in the western regions of the Plains of Dust.
Thon-Thalas River — The river that runs from the Khalkist Mountains, through the Silvanesti Forest, and into the Courrain Ocean.

Toranth River — A river in the Plains of Dust.
Towers of E’li — The towers that guard the entrance to the Thon-Thalas River from the Courrain Ocean into Silvanesti.
Ulin Majere — Son of Palin and Usha Majere. Linsha’s brother.
Varia — A sentient owl and friend of Linsha Majere. Varia possesses the ability to speak with a wide vocal range and has a talent for telepathy and reading auras.
Vorth — A bozak draconian.
Wanderer — Son and eldest child of Riverwind and Goldmoon.
Windwalker — A clan on the Plains of Dust.
