Death is paraphrasing lines made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in his role as the Terminator. Interestingly enough, the music accompanying the scene in question in Terminator II is the song ‘Bad to the Bone’...

There is an even more subtle reference hidden here, however. After this scene, Death will be riding towards the site of the crash in “a coat he borrowed from [the] Dean”, and that is another line from Don McLean’s ‘American Pie’ (see the annotation {69}). Terry has confirmed on a.f.p. that the reference is indeed intentional.
