About the Author

DODIE SMITH was born in Bury, Lancashire, England, and attended St. Paul’s Girls’ School and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She and her husband lived for fifteen years in America. They returned to England in 1953 to live in a 300-year-old house in the country. While in America they traveled across the country six times, always accompanied by their Dalmatians. She is the author of The Starlight Barking and I Capture the Castle, and many plays including, Autumn Crocus, Call It a Day, and Dear Octopus.
