Hard Time — Time served for a felony conviction.

Hot Shot — Telephone connected with the Communications Division where Emergency calls are relayed to proper division.

ID — Police officer’s identification.

The Joint — San Quentin penitentiary.

KMA367 — call letters of Metropolitan Area Station.

Make — Identification of suspect or car.

MO — Modus operandi (method of operation).

R & I — Records and Identification Section.

Stakeout — Fixed post of surveillance, either in anticipation of a crime or in anticipation of arrival of person who has committed a crime.

Stand-Up Muggs — Pictures showing full length of suspect. Stat’s Office — Statistics Section.

211 — Radio code for robbery.

White-collar Criminal — Bunco artist, forger, counterfeiter, or other criminal who specializes in nonviolent crimes.
