Another invention from Sergei Nosov, author of the plays «Don Pedro», «Berendei», «On the Path of Columbus».
This amusing but not necessarily cheerful play is about a sixties man who has not betrayed his ideals. In spite of his pragmatist son’s machinations, to his surprise (and the audience’s surprise) he meets the idol of his youth in the shape of wise old Fedor Kuzmich…Stylish, vivid, provocative. Fine use of language.
A one-act play. 1 female role, 3 male roles.
A comedy. A sensitive, lyrical, somewhat ironical, intellectual play in which the border between ordinary reality and another, mystical, reality fades away. The characters are the aging poet Beranger (a childish old man), still full of creative power, and his muze, this time embodied in his maidservant Annette:
Who shall take heed of poverty
If CUPID freely tunes his lyre
Once brought into disharmony
By THEMIS’ overbearing power?
Female role, 2 male roles.
In a hospital ward, where four women and one transvestite are patients, a pillow with five million dollars is unexpectedly discovered. The race is on to get hold of the pillow. As well as the patients, a doctor and nurse join in the chase. In this farce there are many surprises, including leaps from the sixth floor. But everyone survives. And you will have to wait for the end of this light-hearted comedy to find out who gets their hands on the cash.
5 female roles, 2 male roles.
Whatever a man may do, his attempts to change the course of history are doomed to failure. But there are times when he believes that he is in control. And this comes about in epochs of great bloodshed. The tragedy «The Garden of the Wind» begins in patriarchal times, and ends in just such an epoch of bloodshed. The people and the circumstances are the same, but life itself has gone mad. The play is not set in a specific country. This is to avert the possibility of allusions being made which will distract from the author’s intention.
2 female roles, 8 male roles.
A philosophical parable in two acts, dedicated to a traditional theme: a man’s judgement on himself. The author places the soul of the dead man in Purgatory, inhabited by Adam — the first man, Lilith — the first woman, and the Emperor. Their sole entertainment is to watch the soul’s encounter with its own temporal incarnations. Man passes judgement on himself, and no judge can be more stern than he. The young Joseph Djugashvili enters Purgatory. In succession he meets Comrade Stalin, Koba, and the boy Soso. He passes judgement on himself, kills Stalin and Koba. But the final meeting with the boy Soso ends tragically — he is unable to kill an innocent child and thus condemns himself to non-existence.
1 female role, 7 male roles.
An original play for a super-actress who can play all the parts herself — from a fourteen year-old girl to a one hundred year-old woman. The play is equally convincing both in its prosaic portrayal of daily life as well as in the genre of lyrical poetry. Its temperament is tragic, but with a sense of humour and a capacity for philosophical reflection.
3 female roles, 4 male roles, episodes.
«Imagine what might happen when miliions of energetic young people who think in new ways and are equipped with the most powerful apparatus in history embark on adult life…»
This play belongs to the genre of detective fiction: young people have begun to vanish from the town. Afanasii Pavlovich, a linguist by profession, is forced to set out and search for them. During the investigations, which are being carried out by the military enlistment office with his help, it becomes clear that the young people have been drawn in to some kind of worldwide game on the Internet… As anyone can hook up to the Net, it looks as though, in this case, Satan himself is involved…The play is intended for young people and adults who enjoy adventure stories.
