*NGP was the primary investor in First Artists, the company that was founded in 1970 by Sidney Poitier, Paul Newman, and Barbra Streisand, and in 1971, McQueen joined the team. This arrangement was attractive to McQueen because on all the films he made for First Artists, he would receive meaningful points. Another reason that commercial considerations were at the forefront of everybody’s mind.
