*When I was attending my very first film festival—the 1992 edition of the Sundance Film Festival—with my first movie, Reservoir Dogs, I was introduced by Larry Estes (the man that greenlit Sex, Lies, and Videotape) to Gale Anne Hurd, who, due to Terminator 2, was the biggest movie producer in the world at that time, as well as being Mrs. Brian De Palma. Once we were introduced, I told her “Your husband is my hero, but he won’t like my movie.”

Why don’t you think he’ll like it?” she asked.

Because it’s just people talking to each other,” I told her. “And he doesn’t like movies of people talking to each other.

Then her face showed surprise, and she said, “Wow, you really do know him! You’re right, he doesn’t like movies where people just talk to each other. He was talking about that just the other day.”
