Summary

This volume contains an annotated Russian translation of Ambigia ad Iohannem, Ambigua ad Thomam, and Epistula secunda ad Thomam. The translation was done by Arkadi Choufrine (Princeton University) (amb. 7 and 23) and Dmitry Chernoglazov (St. Petersburg State University) (all other works). It was edited by Grigory Benevich (Russian Christian Academy for the Humanities), who also wrote the introduction and most of the commentaries on the text. Most of the commentaries on amb. 7 were written by Arkadi Choufrine. Dmitry Birjukov (National Research University Higher School of Economics) also wrote a few commentaries on amb. 7 and several other texts.

This edition represents the most detailed analysis of the work to date. It can be regarded as both a continuation and development of the work of Benevich and Choufrine presented in their monograph St. Maximus the Confessor. Refutation of Origenism and Monoenergism, published in 2007 and 2014 (second, revised edition), in an annotated Russian translation of a major early exegetical work by Maximus the Confessor, Quaestiones et Dubia (prepared and published by Chernoglazov and Benevich in 2010) and in an annotated Russian translation of Opuscula Theologica et Polemica (prepared and published by Chernoglazov, Choufrine, and Benevich in 2014).
