Patrology is devoted to the study of the lives, writings and teachings the Holy Fathers and important Church writers. This study begins with the second century and ends with the present time.
The text analyzes the ecclesiastical literature of the disciples of the apostles, apologists, Christian philosophers, fathers of the Ecumenical Councils, ascetics, liturgists, Church poets, writers of late Byzantium and writers of the Russian Church. The last section of the book, a review of the writers of the Russian Orthodox diaspora in the twentieth century, is a completely new contribution to the study of Church literature.
After providing an overview of Orthodox Church literature, the book offers general conclusions about the main topics of all the teachings of the Holy Fathers, and shows that this teaching has remained unchanged up to the present day.
Work on this book was conducted from the year 2000 to 2005. It is published under the editorship of Metropolitan Laurus of Eastern America and New York.
Although this book can be used as a textbook in theological institutions, it has been written to appeal to a wide range of readers, and will be appreciated by all those who seriously want to study Orthodox Christianity.
