Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Habsburg throne, in a car approaching the corner near Schiller’s Delicatessen, where the nineteen-year-old Gavrilo Princip was waiting, after an assassination plot had failed. The archduke had altered his itinerary, but the driver had not been informed, started to turn down the wrong street, and stalled the car.
