Наведені нижче позиції — лише невеличка добірка англомовних книжок, які були для мене найцікавішими або найбільш корисними під час написання праці «Після війни». Де можливо, я зазначав книжки (та видання), які, найімовірніше, будуть доступні читачам для перегляду або купівлі[664]. З тієї самої причини я не включив сюди, за винятком мемуарів і деяких тогочасних свідчень, першоджерела та праці, опубліковані іншими мовами.
Ця бібліографія подана в трьох частинах. У першій частині перераховано праці, у яких ідеться про історію сучасної Європи, а також роботи, присвячені певним країнам чи регіонам. Друга частина поділена за низкою загальних тем: «холодна війна», імміграція, культура й мистецтво тощо. У третій частині я зібрав книжки за розділами, подавши додаткові праці, яким я завдячую інформацією, використаною в тому чи іншому розділі, або такою, яка видалася мені особливо корисною.
Такий спосіб подання літератури неминуче зумовить часткове дублювання. Тож читачі, які хотіли б дізнатися більше про французьких інтелектуалів у роки «холодної війни», можуть звернутися до книжок, поданих під різними заголовками: «Франція»; «Холодна війна»; «Європа та США»; «Інтелектуали та ідеї»; а також до розділу 7 «Культурні війни». Аналогічно читачам, які прагнуть дізнатися більше про історію економіки післявоєнної Європи, може бути корисно проглянути списки під назвами «Загальні історії», «Економіка» чи «Європейський Союз», а також різні розділи, у яких наголошено на історії економіки, зокрема розділ 3, розділ 10 та розділ 14.
