ПРИЛОЖЕНИЕ К БИБЛИОГРАФИИ

В ходе изложения материала мы, главным образом, приводили литературу по истории Империи. Это вызвано тем, что книга является историческим, а не литературоведческим сочинением, и мы рассматриваем не творчество Вергилия и Сенеки и даже не творчество Ливия, Тацита или Плутарха, а отражение ими римской истории и, более конкретно, истории гражданских войн 133–31 гг. до н. э. и влияние этого отражения на саму историю.

Чтобы хоть как-то компенсировать этот недостаток, мы приведем списки статей, посвященных наиболее выдающимся писателям и поэтам, которые содержатся в многотомном издании «Aufstieg und Niedergang der romischen Welt», которое является, вероятно, самым крупным изданием, посвященным истории Рима. Большинство статей, что свидетельствует хотя бы из их изданий, являются обзорами историографии, главным образом, послевоенной.

При рассмотрении этих текстов бросаются в глаза примерно те же закономерности, что и в самой античной истории, и современная историография, по крайней мере, в этом плане, идет за римлянами. Наиболее популярными в историографии оказываются те же люди, которые были «властителями дум» в самой Империи, Вергилий, Сенека, в меньшей степени, Гораций и Овидий, а также Тацит и Плутарх. Относительно небольшое количество работ о Цицероне, которые приводятся в списке, свидетельствует лишь о том, что авторов «Aufstieg und Niedergang der romischen Welt» прежде всего, интересовала история Империи I–III вв. н. э., которая посвящена многотомная Часть II (Prinzipat — Принципат), тогда как Часть I (Republik — Республика) является лишь большим введением, и именно в нем мы помещаем статьи о Цицероне, главным образом; связанные с темой принципата. На самом деле, работ о Цицероне больше, и, возможно, их количество превосходит всех остальных авторов.

Таким образом, в римской культуре выделяются несколько эпох, которые, вероятно, можно назвать, по именам их наиболее значительных представителей: «эпоха Цицерона» (70-е–40-е гг. I в. до н. э.), «эпоха Вергилия» (40–10-е гг. до н. э.), «эпоха Сенеки» (30–60-е гг. I в. н. э.) и эпоха, которую, вероятно, можно назвать «эпохой Тацита и Плутарха» (ок. 90–120 гг. н. э.), поскольку она была отмечена расцветом как римской, так и греческой культуры.

В списке названий последние обозначены следующим образом: автор и название статьи, часть (Teil), том (Band), которые, в свою очередь могут делится на части (их может быть от 2 до 6–7), год издания в скобках и номера страниц.
